The Magic is Back
Isn't this season starting to feel more and more like the ones of the mid-to-late 90's?
Granted the Tribe made some dumb mistakes tonight that could have had bigger consequences (Francisco's tag up, Victor swinging on 3-0 at ball 4, Mastney pitching out with a 2-1 count), but things worked out. The chemistry is there, now we just need the fans in the stands.
In the words of Drew Gooden, "THE TIME IS NOW CLEVELAND."
Ira Newble: COME ON, RISE UP CLEVELAND
Waiting for Garko to get his pie in the face now....Ok Barfield just got him....Allow me to be the first to say that these pies are doing for the morale of the team what the high socks did in '97.
Definetly not missing another game all season.

Who's now?
Who cares?
Major buzz kill tonight as STO really dropped the ball in the 11th by having technical difficulties. Luckily I got to my radio just in time to hear a classic Hammy call on Blake's blast.
I couldn't be happier with the Tribe though and I can't help but laugh at all the trade talk on WKNR right now. Garko and Sowers for Lance Berkman? or Mark Texierra? Not worth it. You can't expect Hafner to hit like this all year. I say we bypass any trades and if Hafner is still batting like this in our September push, I'll take the blame. If we neeed anyone its a bullpen pitcher with the abilty of Betancourt (minus the whole confirmed steroid user thing).
Another thing I have been thinking about lately though is the play of Grady Sizemore. Great all-around player I know, but his strikeouts are really killing me. I loved his drag bunt to start the game today and I love the way he plays the game, but I leaned over to my dad during the game Monday and told him Sizemore didn't deserve his All-Star selection, 2 at-bats before his grand slam. I stand by it though, great players don't strike out that much. The guy is such a scrapper all he needs to do is get it in play anywhere and his average will jump up.
Rick Manning made a good point tonight though that maybe the Tribe's new-found patience at the plate is the reason for all these K's. We're winning so if it is I'll accept it, but Sizemore can elevate his game.
Reason #568 I hate ESPN: 6 p.m. (7/3) SportsCenter made no mention of the great AL Central matchup to be played later that night and chose rather to play up the fact that Bonds and Griffey would be playing in the same game that night. Two last place teams that are a combined 28 games out of first place. Thrilling.
Baseball Tonight, the only show that gets my respect anymore on ESPN, is beginning. I'm out.
War Tony Parker's Subway commercial and the ESPYs commercial in which LeBron says he voted for himself 1,000,000 times. Impossible.

On/Aint on
I thought I would jump back on the horse and hopefully encourage and motivate some of comeweaker’s other contributors to do the same. It seems we have hit our proverbial rookie season wall or mid summer slump if you may, drastically needing the midsummer classic and holiday to revamp our spirits.
Oft people have come out with their own columns of what’s hot/what’s not, or in/out, or do/donts, so I figured I would do the same but name it something a little more along the lines of the matador’s beliefs. Many will rival each other and have an opponent who has taken its place on the positive side and sending the item to the negative side. Other items are separate and have no relationship whatsoever with another one.
Without further ado, and as always, criticism and personal feelings are welcomed with open arms….
